Sync or Storm
About Sync or Storm
A storm is building around the island. The only way through it is together.
Developed in partnership with Bad Ape and Equimundo, Sync or Storm is an interactive cooperative game for young people from the UN Spotlight Initiative.
With an estimated one in three women experiencing violence in their lifetime, prevention must begin before harm occurs. Through gameplay, kids practice listening, collaboration, accountability and speaking up; experiencing how positive behaviours help build respectful relationships and communities.
Sync or Storm is an activation of the #WithHer digital campaign, which raises awareness about gender-based violence and global efforts to address the issue. Through its campaigns, Spotlight Initiative has reached more than 385 million people with messages on the prevention of violence against women and girls.
Who is ‘Sync or Storm’ for?
The campaign focuses on boys aged nine and up, a formative period for developing ideas about friendship, teamwork, respect and responsibility.
Why use video games as an educational tool?
Equimundo research highlights online gaming as a space where many boys first learn and negotiate ideas about masculinity, relationships and social behavior. Because gaming is central to how young people connect, communicate and collaborate, it can also foster positive norms and behaviours
